Orders & Shipping

Our current processing time is 5 business days before your product ships. Once shipped, you’ll receive tracking information via email.

Yes, as long as it's prior to a shipping label being created and it's not a custom order. Customized orders cannot be changed or canceled once placed.

At this time, we don’t offer expedited shipping. We recommend ordering early if you need a product by a certain date.

All of our products are handmade and shipped directly from our small shop in Doolittle, MO.

Yes! If you’re local, you’ll see an option at checkout to select local pickup instead of shipping. Once your order is ready, we’ll email you with pickup details.

Not at this time. Currently, we only ship within the U.S.—but we do offer shipping to U.S. military bases.

Returns/Refunds

If you no longer wish to keep your item, you may return it at your own expense if it's within the 30 day return period. Once the product is received back in its original condition, we will issue a refund to your original payment method.

Customized items are non-refundable.

Laurel & Oak is not responsible for damages that occur during shipping. You will need to contact the carrier if your order arrives damaged.

Products & Materials

Not exactly—and that’s the beauty of it. Since we work with natural solid wood, each piece has its own unique grain, tone, and character. No two are ever the same.

We keep it simple, safe, and natural. For cutting boards, we use Walrus Oil and Wax. For our stools and book wedges, we use Rubio Monocoat. You’ll always find the finish details listed on each product page.

Yes! Our cutting boards are finished with food-safe oils and waxes, making them safe for everyday kitchen use.

No—we work exclusively with solid wood and natural finishes. No MDF, no plastic, no shortcuts.

Each grounding board comes with a ground fault indicator. You’ll want to use this tool first to ensure the outlet you’re plugging into is fully grounded. This step is important for safety and effectiveness—please check every outlet you plan to use before connecting your board. We will provide an instruction card with your order and you'll receive an email with a link to an instructional video for how to use your grounding board safely.

Note: Laurel & Oak is not responsible for improper use of outlets or grounding boards. Please follow all included instructions carefully.

Care & Maintenance

  • To keep your board looking and performing its best, avoid leaving it soaking or sitting in water. Prolonged exposure can cause the wood to warp or crack.
  • After use, simply wash your board by hand with warm, soapy water and dry it promptly with a towel.
  • For deeper cleaning, you can occasionally wipe it down with a mixture of coarse salt and lemon to freshen and deodorize naturally.
  • If the wood starts to look dry or dull, revive it with mineral oil or a natural cutting board oil. Apply a thin, even coat and let it soak in overnight before wiping off any excess.
  • Avoid putting your cutting board in the dishwasher — the heat and moisture will damage the wood permanently.
  • With proper care, your board will last for years to come.

Keep your board out of the dishwasher, avoid soaking it in water, and steer clear of harsh chemicals. Don’t leave it wet for long periods of time. One note about end grain cutting boards: because of their structure, they may hold onto strong smells (like onions or garlic). We recommend saving those for your edge grain boards.

If your board is feeling dry or looking dull, you can re-oil it once a month and apply wax every other month if you’re using it regularly. We recommend Walrus Oil and Wax for the best results.

Yes! For our 2" end grain cutting boards, we offer one complimentary refinishing per board. Here’s how it works:

  • After your purchase, you’ll receive an email with a discount code.
  • When you’re ready, you can use that code to “purchase” an end grain refinishing on our site for 100% off.
  • You’ll cover the shipping cost to send your board to us.
  • We’ll handle the refinishing and ship it back to you at no cost.

This offer is valid one time per board.

  • Your board is sturdy and designed for daily use - on carpet, hard floors, or even the couch.
  • To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking or using harsh chemicals.
  • The copper disk will develop a natural patina over time — this is normal and won’t affect function.
  • If you prefer a shinier look, you may gently polish the copper using a mix of lemon juice and salt, applied carefully with a cloth or cotton swab.
  • Take care to avoid contact with the surrounding wood, as acidic or abrasive substances may damage the finish.
