When we dreamed up Laurel & Oak, it wasn’t because we wanted to build a big manufacturing company or chase trends. It started with something much simpler: a desire to live and work side by side, creating pieces for the home that last, matter, and feel right to us.
A Story Shaped by Waiting
For the past seven years, we’ve walked through infertility. It’s a journey that has stretched us, drawn us closer together, and reminded us over and over that our story is held by the One who knows all things.
That waiting reminded us of what truly matters—our faith and trust in God, and our marriage and the time we have together. It also opened our eyes to pay closer attention to the choices we make for our home, the materials we use, and the environment we live in every day. More than anything, it gave us a shared desire to spend our time doing something meaningful together—building with our hands, trusting God with our future, and shaping a life we hope one day will grow to include children, whether through birth or adoption.
Laurel & Oak is part of that hope. It’s the tangible work of our hands in this season of waiting.
Why Craftsmanship Matters to Us
We’re drawn to solid wood and simple designs—pieces that don’t shout, but quietly bring beauty and function to everyday living. Our style leans Mediterranean and Scandinavian: clean, warm, and natural.
Nothing we make is out of plastic. We choose natural woods, finishes with as few toxins as possible, and materials that are safe for the home we live in—because if it’s not good enough for our family, it’s not good enough for yours.
We also believe in durability. Our end grain cutting boards are hefty because they’re made to last. Our stools, grounding boards, and wedges are designed to serve for years to come—not as disposable items, but as part of the rhythms of your home.
This isn’t mass production. It’s the two of us, in our shop, sanding and shaping and packing each order ourselves. We want every piece to carry the same level of care and quality that we’d expect in our own home.
